NETMARKS to Offer Solution that Integrates, Manages, Analyzes and
Reports on Logs of the Systems on a Network

- Allows creation of reports effective in strengthening
internal governance systems and monitoring -

As part of its quest to help companies strengthen their internal governance NETMARKS INC. (Moto-Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Atsushi Ohashi; "NETMARKS") will in May begin offering "Network Intelligence ENGINE Appliance" (made by RSA Security Inc.; RSA, The Security Division of EMC), a tool that manages, analyzes and reports on the logs of systems connected to a network in an integrated manner. The product is an appliance device that collates and manages the logs of switching equipment, applications, servers, security tools, etc. connected to a network, and monitors, analyzes and reports on them in real time. By integrating and centrally managing the various logs, it allows correlation analysis, time-series analysis, etc. of different types of log and can be used to create reports compliant with audits and in measures intended to strengthen internal governance. It also provides a storage system for the growing volume of log data and allows log data backup and archiving. NETMARKS will be marketing an "integrated log management solution" combining the product with a storage system, to the enterprise market, and expects to achieve sales of \300 million in the first year.

"Monitoring" is a key element of internal governance. Moreover, "Response to IT"*1. has made it necessary for companies ensure they have an accurate understanding of compliance, be able to detect security infringements and implement continuous assessment of validity and efficiency. However, the logs that form the basis of this assessment have, until now, been compiled and managed separately for each system, and the work of analysis and reporting has been extremely time-consuming.

By integrating and managing a range of different log types centrally, the shortly to be released "Network Intelligence ENGINE Appliance" makes it easy to analyze logs. For example, until now, when an incident such as a network problem or an unauthorized user accessing the network from outside has occurred, identifying the cause of the problem and carrying out restoration work was time-consuming, but the analytical functions of the new product have made it possible to correlate the logs of multiple systems, identify the source of problems and reduce downtime. It also monitors system logs in real time and can alert the system administrator if logs do not conform to pre-set conditions.
