NETMARKS Launches Solution Combining Fingerprint Authentication Device
and HDD Encryption Software Designed to Prevent Information Leaks
- PUPPY fingerprint authentication device and
SafeBoot HDD encryption software supplied as a package -
NETMARKS INC. (Moto-Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Atsushi Ohashi; "NETMARKS")will today release a package combining Sony Corporation's PUPPY fingerprint authentication device and SafeBoot N.V.'s hard disk encryption software SafeBoot.
The package will enhance user convenience by making it possible to change the log-on procedure for hard disks encrypted using SafeBoot software from an ID/password-based procedure to a fingerprint authentication-based procedure using the PUPPY device, and will offer solid authentication with a high level of security. The solution also supports Windows log-on, a single fingerprint authentication allowing the user to log on to both SafeBoot and Windows.
NETMARKS is conducting a sales campaign in conjunction with the launch of the package, offering special prices. The campaign runs from today until March 15, 2007. Prices start at \580,000 (excluding tax) for a 10-license package.
Sony Corporation's PUPPY fingerprint authentication device is a personal authentication device incorporating 3 functions - fingerprint authentication (fingerprints compared within the device), a PKI token function and storage. SafeBoot N.V.'s SafeBoot HDD encryption software keeps the whole of the hard disk encrypted at all times. SafeBoot also makes it possible to prevent unauthorized access by providing authentication before the OS boots up.
NETMARKS is a sales agent for the PUPPY fingerprint authentication device and SafeBoot HDD encryption software, and has a strong track record in implementation together with extensive technical expertise. NETMARKS is also able to provide a wide range of authentication solutions that combine biometric authentication devices using not only fingerprints, but a range of biometrics, including pulse or iris pattern, with IC cards, USB keys, etc.

Features of the PUPPY fingerprint authentication device
- Strong personal authentication using PKI
The PUPPY device combines fingerprint authentication with PKI (public key infrastructure) technology, thereby achieving strong security. The PUPPY has a built-in RSA key pair generating function. The generated keys are stored internally, and their use can be restricted by fingerprint authentication, allowing complete certificate authentication. - Secure USB memory function
The PUPPY carries 64 MB of flash memory and allows the user to set freely accessible storage areas and areas whose security is protected by fingerprint authentication.
Features of SafeBoot HDD Encryption Software
- Encryption of entire HDD
Unlike file or drive encryption software, SafeBoot keeps the whole of the HDD encrypted at all times, at sector level, achieving security that does not rely on user operation. - Pre-boot authentication
